Mimi Vandermolen – Women’s History Month Spotlight

Mimi Vandermolen is one of the most influential women in the automotive industry and has played a significant role in shaping the industry into what it is today. Vandermolen has worked for some of the biggest names in the automotive industry and has held various positions throughout her career.

Mimi started her career in 1977 when she joined Ford Motor Company. She started as a clerical worker and worked her way up through the ranks. During her time at Ford, Vandermolen held various positions, including the Director of Sales Operations for Ford’s Lincoln-Mercury Division. She also played a key role in launching the Ford Taurus, which went on to become one of Ford’s most successful models.

In 1993, Vandermolen left Ford to join General Motors. She held various positions at GM, including the Director of Marketing for Cadillac and the Director of Marketing for Buick. During her time at GM, Vandermolen was responsible for launching the Cadillac Escalade, which became a huge success for the company. The Escalade was a luxury SUV that was designed to compete with the likes of the Lincoln Navigator and the Range Rover.
